Do Home Sellers Need More Sense?

Few sellers are home selling experts. We sell a home perhaps a few times in our life. More sense about selling can only help sellers.

With over one million real estate agents licensed in the United States pursuing clients, the internet is overflowing with “advice” for home sellers. Blogs, videos, social media, and even old-fashioned post cards offer each broker’s opinions (usually self-promoting) about how best to sell a home “in this market” or “in the current interest rate environment” or in whatever other special circumstances purportedly exist. The flood of advice is often murky and sometimes misleading, usually because the source of the advice has ulterior motivation.

So, yes, home sellers do need more sense — more clarity and simplicity. Home Seller Sense strives to peel away and discard the marketing motivation that discolors so much of the advice vying for the attention of sellers (and buyers) seeking speedy and simple success in selling (or buying) a home. We aim to reveal simple strategies for smoothing the home selling process and to debunk outdated ideas mooted by primarily by the internet.

Fundamentally, our ambition is to share without bias the information we believe will best prepare our readers for selling a home. Our posts will cover preparing a home for sale, choosing among various listing brokerage firms (from no brokerage to full-service), anticipating and responding to buyer proposals, and navigating the sales closing. We emphasize that our site supplies information, not legal, financial, tax, or real estate brokerage advice or any other service for which a license may be required in any state. Our terms and conditions share more of the cautions and limitations prepared by our lawyers.
