When a prospective buyer rolls up to your home for a showing, does your home impress? The first few seconds of a prospective buyer’s visit happen quickly and only once. No amount of interior grandeur can erase a prospective buyer’s first visuals of the condition of your home’s exterior.
Don’t waste the opportunity to communicate the diligence of your home maintenance. Your home does not need to be the Palace at Versailles to be impressive. Just make sure that home trumpets the consistency of your care for the condition of your home outside and inside.
Keep your lawn and shrubs trim. Usher dirt, pollen, leaves, and other debris off your lawn and walkways. Move garbage cans out-of-sight. Dust or wash the front door and windows. Set the doormat straight.
The effort is minimal, and the reward is monumental. A first impression of cleanliness and pride sets the tone for the entire showing. Of course, the same is true when a prospective buyer’s first glance falls on dirt, debris, peeling paint, or other obvious indicators of a seller’s indifference to the condition of the home.
